SAT Course That Suits Your Needs
The SAT is a standardized, multiple-choice test that measures your logical reasoning skills. The SAT score is often required if you apply to universities in the United States and Europe (e.g., at Bocconi University or IE University).
The SAT is unlike usual school tests at school as it does not assess your knowledge. Instead, it verifies your ability to read and understand academic texts, calculate and solve mathematical problems, as well as your command of grammatical structures and ability to create coherent texts. The final score is often determined by both – the speed at which you complete tasks and your problem-solving and decision-making skills.
The SAT, or Scholastic Assessment Test (read more about it here) evaluates if a university applicant will thrive in a new academic environment and whether they are ready to pursue a degree.
Currently, some universities in the United States offer the possibility of submitting documents without the SAT scores. However, if you are considering top-ranked universities, stating your SAT score is often a requirement, and it can allow you to be accepted into your dream college. THE SAT IN A NUTSHELL
FORMAT, DATES AND LOCATIONS
The SAT underwent significant changes in 2023. Students take the test digitally, using the Bluebook Exams application on their laptops (Windows, MacOS) or iPads. Still, the test organizer (College Board) requires students to be present in a test center. In Poland, you can take the SAT on March 9, May 4, and June 1 (2024) in Warsaw, Gdańsk, and Cracow.
See below the list of test centers in Poland:
Warszawa
International American School
The British School
Gdańsk
Cracow
The International School of Krakow
You can retake the test multiple times, as there is no limit. Your results will be valid for 5 years. It is recommended to take the SAT in the third year of high school and to start studying for the test in advance (even a year earlier, in the second year of high school) in order to obtain the highest possible score.
SAT STRUCTURE
Students have exactly 2 hours and 14 minutes to complete the SAT. It is composed of two sections:
RW, Reading and Writing
- Module 1 = Reading and Writing, 27 questions, 32 minutes (mixed difficulty questions – easy, medium, difficult)
- Module 2 = Reading and Writing, 27 questions, 32 minutes (generally medium or difficult questions, depending on your performance on the first module)
In total: 54 questions, 64 minutes
Math Section
- Module 1 = Math, 22 questions, 35 minutes
- Module 2 = Math, 22 questions, 35 minutes
Module 1 consists of mixed difficulty questions, while module 2 is considered more difficult by students. In addition to multiple-choice questions, the math section includes open-ended questions in which students have to enter the answer (known as a student-produced response).
In total: 44 questions, 70 minutes
Each module includes two pretest questions which are not graded.

SCORING SCALE
For each correct answer on the SAT, you can get one point. The points from the humanities and math sections are then added up and calculated according to a dedicated grading scale which may vary slightly from test to test. You can get a maximum of 1600 points – from 200 to 800 points in each section.
1500+ is considered a very good score. Check out our 10 tips for scoring 1500+ on the SAT.
